High Speed Chase

Last night was rather interesting. On the way home from rehearsal, I was dropping off Sasha and Marie. We had just gotten off I-215 at 700 N when we saw quite a few cop cars around. One starting heading toward us so I pulled over to the side of the road. No sooner had I pulled over than a mass of cop cars and one little white car came zooming up to us going the oppisite direction we were facing. One of the cop cars hit the white car and it spun in a circle and ending up facing north (it had been facing west) and almost slid into us. Marie and I had the same idea at that moment and I backed up. It probably wouldn't have hit me, but it sure felt like it was going to. After the car came to a stop, we watched as the driver jumped out of his car and bolted down the street, right past Sasha's window (the front passenger seat). Needless to say, we were freaking out at this point. While trying to find where the locks were on the van, I accidently started rolling down my window. I was not ok with that, but somehow I managed to get the window rolled back up and the doors locked. This all happened insanely fast. Sasha, Marie, and I were all chattering so fast and I'm sure more than a few swear words were said, not that I really remember much of anything we actually said. Cops went running and driving past us to get the driver. We couldn't figure out if we were supposed to leave or if we even could. There were literally about 20 cop cars around blocking most of the street. Finally, a cop walked by and told us we could go. The only available road, as far as we could tell in our panicked and shocked state was into an apartment complex. We went there and tried to find another way out. There wasn't one. As we were trying to figure out what to do, we saw that they had caught the runners. So finally we saw that the cops had a spot between their cars that we could get through so we did and we all made it home safely, although seriously shaken.

This morning on the news, I found out what happened. The cops were on a high speed chase on the freeway (they were going over 100 mph). After getting off the freeway, they tried to use spikes to stop the car, but he went around them. Finally, they were able to hit his car so they could stop him. It turns out these guys had stolen beer. They also had 2 underage kids with them. It seems crazy to me that someone would go through all of that for beer. I'm just glad I was able to pull off to the side safely and we all made it home safely and with nothing worse than shaking hands and shock.
