Ok so I've been bad about updating about the holidays so here goes.
For Christmas, Wil's mom flew us (us being Wil and me, and Wil's brothers and their families) to Daytona Beach, FL. The resort we stayed at was really nice. All our rooms and full kitchens (which was perfect for the kids since they had to eat more often than the rest of us and couldn't wait for us to decide where we'd be going). We ended up making a trip to Walmart to get some stuff to have in our rooms. I made O'Henry bars for everyone. They were yummy. The resort was right on the beach so we usually spent two of our mornings playing in the sand and water. The first day, it was too cold and we didn't stay long. The second day was much warmer (perfect weather) and we spent a few hours on the beach. On Christmas day, we went to Sea World in Orlando. That was a lot of fun. That place is a lot bigger than the one in San Diego. I loved watching the kids as they saw the Shamu show and the dolphin show. It was adorable. They have a really cool roller coaster called Manta. That thing is crazy, scary, and a ton of fun. We were also able to get a family picture next to the huge Christmas tree they had there. Florida was great!
Once we got back from Florida, we had a family party at my parents' house. Josh and Steph were there (they live in IL) and had a special annoucement to make. They are going to have a baby in June! We're so excited for them! Spending time with my family was a lot of fun.
On New Year's Eve, we went over to Wil's dad's house for Christmas with him. Jake, Rachel and Nelle were there and so was Drew. Paula made some very tasty curry and we had a lot of fun spending time with everyone.
After that, Wil and I went back home and celebrated New Year's with Sid, Nate, and Megan. We had cheese and chocolate fondue. It was delicious. Sid, Nate and Wil played Little Big Planet while Megan and I watched. We laughed a lot. That game is seriously fun, and funny to watch.
On Christmas, Wil had a special present for me. I couldn't figure out when he'd gotten it since I had done the packing for Florida and we'd been together all the time once we got to Florida. One of the times when we'd been hanging out in Terrill's room, he had asked her if it would be ok for us to get a dog/puppy (since we live in her condo at the moment). She said it was fine as long as we cleaned up the messes and got a non-shedding dog (we wanted a toy/mini poodle anyway so that worked out). So anyway, Wil told me that when I thought we were ready, we could get a puppy. I freaked out! It was the best gift ever! I'd been wanting a puppy for quite a while (since I had to give away my border collie since we didn't have a yard big enough for her). I started looking for a poodle puppy right away. Finally, I found one that we could go see and that was in our price range.
So on Saturday, we met the breeder at Jordan Landing (after picking up Kenner who lived nearby). The puppy she had was the last of his litter to be sold. Since he was the last one, the price had been reduced from $350 to $175. I wasn't convinced that I'd want him until I saw him and felt his coat. Holy cow that puppy had pitch black, very silky and shiny poodle hair. He was adorable. So anyway, we bought him. We've named him Sirius (after Sirius Black from Harry Potter...it works on so many levels). He is an adorable and stubborn 3 month old toy poodle.
So that's what's been going on with us. Sirius is keeping us really busy and is testing his boundries. He's a smart puppy though so I'm sure he'll get the hang of things soon. I'll post pictures from Christmas, New Year's and of Sirius later.
This poodle thing sounds serious!
ReplyDeleteThe game is very funny indeed, Wil almost had to perform CPR on Jess after her giggle fit!
