New Routine/Life

Regular excerise makes you sleep better. I've heard it many times before, and figured it was probably true, but could never get up and do it. I was always too tired, too busy, or too lazy. This past week though, I have been very diligent about working out, and eating healthier, and have noticed a huge change in how I sleep. It used to take me anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to fall asleep (sometimes longer). Then, once I was asleep, I'd wake up at least 4 times during the night. Every time I woke up, it took another 30 minutes to an hour to fall back asleep. When my husband would come to bed, the sound of the door opening (which isn't loud at all) or the very tiny movement of the bed would wake me up. I hated it when my alarm would go off and I was always tired throughout my day. It was horrible!

When I was younger, I slept like a rock. There was on time in particular that empashised this fact. My family was camping (in a tent) and there was a major storm. The tent shook, the rain pounded, and there was tons of thunder. Everyone woke up, even my mom who is a very heavy sleeper. Everyone, that is, except me. They were all worried that something was wrong, but soon realized that I was just completely knocked out for some reason. I don't know when or why, but for at least the past few years, I am not a heavy sleeper at all!

Now, after 1 week of seriously working out, my sleeping has changed dramatically, again. My husband even noticed. It takes me less than 30 minutes to fall asleep (once I try to). I never hear my husband come to bed anymore. I don't remember waking up over and over again in the middle of the night (except when I really need to pee). A few nights ago, my husband actually had to pull hard on the blankets (I was laying on all of them apparently) so he could have some and I slept on. I'm no longer forcing myself to stay awake at work (although I do still get tired at work sometimes). I no longer want to crawl into bed as soon as I get home from work (at 4, which is WAY too early to go to bed). I have a lot more energy. Because of that, I also have a lot more patience.

I feel great! I knew that working out would be good for me, but I never really "knew" how it would help me sleep. I love my new routine and my new life!
