We had a ton of fun on the 4th of July. It started with me getting up at 4 am so I could get started on the Magna's 4th of July 5K. Kassi and I spent the morning driving from Pleasant Green Park to the Magna Cooper park making sure the start and finish lines were ready as well as all the stuff in between. It was crazy, but in the end, very rewarding and fun. It was worth all the stress and crazyness in the end.
After the 5K was done, I had breakfast with my parents, who were also volunteers for the 5K. It was a good breakfast and it was fun to sit and chat with my parents for a while. When breakfast was done, I helped finish the clean up for the 5K (most of it was done before we ate but there were a few things that still needed to be put away), and then headed home. When planning out my day, I figured I'd go home and take a nap. After the 5K, I was way to energized to sleep though so instead I waiting about an hour or so for Wil and Senica to wake up.
Once Wil was awake, I talked them both into going swimming. I was bouncing around the house trying to get things together so we could go to the pool. I finally got them out the door after what felt like hours to my super hyper self, but in reality was no more than 30 minutes. We invited Sid to join us at the pool and had a lot of fun.
After rinsing off when we were done swimming, we went to Woody's Drive-In for some burgers and ironports. After having ironports at Marion's in Roosevelt the previous weekend, we had to find out if any other place offered them. Very few did, but Woody's is fairly close to our house and did have ironports so we had to try it. Their burgers were excellent and so were the ironports. Everything else we had, fries, onion rings, fried mushrooms, and shakes, were ok, but nothing special, but those burgers were great!
When we got back from Woody's, I was finally exhausted from my early start to the day. I layed down on the couch and the next thing I knew, Wil was waking me up to make me move to the bed. I'd been asleep for over an hour on a couch that is not comfortable to sleep on and while Sid, and Senica left for their various 4th of July evening events. Wil and I ended up taking a nap from about 4 until 7pm. When he woke up at 7, he made me get up. I didn't want to but I knew that if I didn't, I wouldn't get enough sleep that night and I had to work the next day. We had discussed going to the Magna 4th of July fireworks show, but ended up not going because I was seriously sleepy (I think I got a bit too much sun that day), and wasn't really up for going anywhere. Instead, we had a lazy evening at home.
Overall, it was a great 4th of July.
