Update!

I haven’t had a chance to update our blog lately. Here’s a brief (yes, it is actually shortened a lot) summary of what’s been going on.

March 26-28:

Last weekend, we, meaning Wil, Nate, Megan, Chris, Brittany, and I, went to a cabin that Brittany’s parents own. It was a blast. Megan, Nate, Brittany and I had all been really sick the week before, but we all felt better while at the cabin (nothing like a good rest at a comfy cabin to make you feel better). We played Rock Band, watched movies, and just enjoyed being around each other. Each couple planned a dinner (breakfasts were cereal and lunches were fend for yourself sort of thing). The first night, Brittany made Sheppard’s Pie. It was delicious. We made Orange Chicken and rice the second night, and it went over very well. I’ve never made it so perfectly before. Nate and Megan made pizzas Sunday night when we got home.

Getting home Sunday was an adventure. The weather had been great all weekend. Then, we woke up on Sunday to strong winds and soon after that there was a major snow storm. We managed to pack up and get out of the mountains before it got bad, but got stuck in Kimball Junction for a few hours. I-80 was chains only for a while. Once that cleared up though, we were able to make it safely home. (Photos below)

Conference:

I really enjoyed General Conference. I will admit that I did have trouble listening to some of the talks, but I actually listened to a lot more of them than usual this year. My favorite talk was the first one by Elder Hale. I need to remember to ask “Can we afford that?” and “We can afford it, but do we need it?” before buying anything. That’s something I’ve always struggled with. Wil’s been helping me get better at that, but we both have a tendency to indulge our wants far too often. Elder Hale’s talk reminded me how important it is to get out and stay out of debt. There are definitely a few things I will be doing differently from now on. A few of the other talks hit home hard as well. Changes need to be made so I can be a happier person, and be kinder to Wil (even when he does drive me up the wall).

This week:

This week is going to be an interesting one. On Friday, Wil and I will be heading out to Albany, NY to see his brother Mike and his family. I haven’t seen Jenny for so long, and Wil and I are both excited to meet Grant, their newest child. While there, I will be taking the Executive Success Program. Wil took it last summer and it really helped him with his life. I’m looking forward to taking it, although I am a little nervous too. Sometimes it’s hard to learn truths about yourself, and sometimes it’s easier to deny the truths than to accept them and move on with you life. It’ll be great though. I can’t wait.
