For those of you who haven't been paying attention on Facebook, I am currently in rehearsals for the Scarlet Pimpernel!! If you haven't seen this show, you need to! The music is amazing, and this cast is seriously talented. They men steal the show for sure, but the women are great and entertaining as well.
I've been having so much fun at rehearsals. Last night, the ensemble didn't really have much to do, but we didn't care. It was so entertaining, and funny to watch the guys do their scenes. The men in this show are actually pretty good at dancing, and are excellent singers. My waltz partner can actually lead!! I've only danced once or twice with a guy who could actually lead (and never in a show). I'm so excited. It's hard to let go and let him lead, since I'm not used to it, but it's a nice change.
The most exciting thing about this show, for me at least, is that I get to sing a solo. I only have 2 small lines in a song, but I'll take it. I've never done a solo before so this is huge for me and I'm loving it. Being in the ensemble in this show is so much fun. We'll be doing some really quick costume changes, but we have several different characters we get to play. The hard part is keeping track of them all, while remembering the words and notes for the songs, and the steps for the dances. I'll get it eventually, but this is definitely not an easy show to do.
All in all, it's definitely something I think everyone needs to come see. It's going to be incredible! This is a bit of a darker show, so I wouldn't recommend it for children, but I feel that adults can really appreciate the depth and scope of this show. Opening night is January 4, 2013.
